The quietness of porcelain speaks to me; its softness and smell draw me in. The white expanse provides a natural canvas and leaves space for exploration.
The finished surface is a landscape of dry stains heavily manipulated and layered. The surface is left unglazed exposing the clay.
It brings to mind light filtering through the trees on a wooded path or the glow of the milky filling a night sky. An artifact of life; of the intimate interaction between myself and the clay. A record of handcraft and awareness of self.
